Kid Nation Episode 7

Primary deviance was shown in this episode of kid nation when Divad decided that she wanted to be more than a "potato girl." This is an example of primary deviance because eventually when she decides that she has earned and saved enough money she will stop selling her potatoes and other products. She will most likely go for awhile longer, but she will eventually have so much money that she wont need to sell anything anymore. Most likely she will spend her money on things for herself or maybe things for the community. Then again maybe she will keep selling her products.

Secondary deviance was shown in this episode of kid nation when Nathan kept washing clothes while everyone else took a break and enjoyed the new items the town council had bought them with the money from the mine. Even when Lauriel told Nathan that he could take a break he told her that the clothes were far behind and needed to be done. Also when he tried to help out by hauling water even though that had already been done. I think that Nathan will always be the type of person who does everything very thoroughly and precisely. I think one of the main reasons he does this though is because it shows that he has earned his pay and also because he has a different home life than many.

Stigma is shown in this episode of kid nation when Greg was yelling at Nathan when he was trying to help. The label that may have been given to Greg is bully or jerk. This has a negative effect on him because this may cause people to not want to be friends with him. The people may think that if they are friends with Greg and make him mad that he will either yell at them or maybe even unfriend him. Without friends, people may just overlook all of Greg's hard work.

Free Blog Post

This weekend is going to be an amazing weekend. I am going to Kentucky with my dad and step mom this weekend. I am so excited because I get to go to a lake and going tubing and water skiing for the first time! Since this will be my first time water skiing and tubing I feel like I am going to either fly off the tube or face plant into the water. I am also afraid that I am going to get really sunburned. My dad, sister, and I leave on Saturday to go and meet the rest of my family at our camping site. I am pretty sure we are staying in a tent like true campers but then again we might be staying in my grandma and grandpa's r.v. Even though there might be some complications like being sunburned or falling on my face I think this weekend will be a entertaining and extravagant weekend.

Kid Nation Episode 6

Conformity is one thing that is shown in this episode because the new council members have to adjust to their new roles in society. They have to adjust to waking up earlier in the morning. This might be a little harder for them since they have been used to sleeping in later. Another thing they will have to get used to is the low respect the kids have for the council. Some of the kids have little respect for their leaders. Taylor is one of the main kids who have little respect for anyone. She is very displeased with hoe Zach replaced her in the City council.

Authority is also being shown in this episode of kid nation since there is a City Council. This is a socially approved use of power because when the town had a reelection only two of the council members were replaced. This in turn means that the other two council members are either doing a reasonable job or they are accomplishing good things for the town. By two members getting kicked off however means that the town did not approve of the job they were doing. The town members, Zach and Guylan, were doing a better job at providing and helping the town that they were the ones who replaced the main council members.

Cooperation is something else that is shown in this episode of kid nation when the city council asked town members to help take and bury the city trash away from the town. Most of the kids cooperated by helpimg pick up the trash and dumping it into the crates. Taylor and Lela were the only two kids who did not show any cooperation. They ran away from the group and went to hide in a room. In return of their selfish act they are going to be punished. By simply just helping and cooperating with the city council, they would have possibly been on better terms with the town members and the City Council.

What Bugs Me Post

Something that really bugs me is when people say that they hat when people lie to them, but then they become hypocritical and lie to others. This has happened to me so many times that it isn't even funny. My step mom and dad are the ones that have probably lied to me the most in my life. They say that they have nothing to hide and that they tell me everything, when honestly they don't. Sure they tell me things that I need to know. What they don't know is that I have found out so many things from my aunt that my parents should have told me, but they didn't. I really wish people would just tell me things instead of lying to my face. Sure there are some things that everyone should keep to themselves, but important family matters should be discussed with all of the family. This is just one example of something that bugs me, and there are many other things.

Free blog post

Yesterday was a very exciting day. After my mom picked me up from school we went to Wal-Mart. While on our way to the store, we were listening to the radio. The radio hosts were talking about Adam Levine's hair and how they despised of it. They said that if you didn't like it that you should give them a call. So like the totally dork that I am, I called not expecting an answer. Surprisingly they answered! We talked for like five minutes about how we thought that Adam Levine wasn't a good blond. Sadly they didn't mention me on the radio but I was happy I got to talk to someone famous. After we went to Wal-Mart, we went to Helping Hands for my sister. This is where my sister goes to ride horses. There we danced and I learned how to line dance. This is what happened yesterday after school.

Kid Nation 5

Groups are shown in this episode of kid nation. This is shown due to the fact that there are four different groups in Bonanza city. Each group has a different color and a different leader that represents each group. There are also other groups inside the main groups. There are groups of people who do lots of work and there are groups of people who don't do anything at all.

Conflict was shown in this episode of kid nation when the town had a reelection. There were members from each each group that opposed their leader's job. So, they were allowed to give a speech that persuaded the minds of the fellow town members. This was a really big example of conflict. It caused a ton of tension between the council members and just everyone in general.

In-group was shown in this episode when Taylor wanted everyone to vote for her instead of for Zach. She has pretty much persuaded all the girls in her group to vote for her. She has only persuaded the girls to vote for her because she thinks she is a queen and she doesn't want anyone else to be a leader. This isn't what a leader should do. So, in my opinion this is a very big example of in-group because none of the other groups  hardly have this problem.

Kid Nation 4

When each group is assigned a certain job, that is an example of ascribed status. No one can chose what they want to do. They get whatever job they earn. You are ranked by what position you come in. Many don't agree with these rankings but since it is ascribed status it's not always fair.

Right was shown in this episode of kid nation when the kids got to choose whether all the religions came together. No one is being forced to listen to the other beliefs. When the meetings are held, you don't have to show up and listen to the others. Each individual religion has a right to believe what they want to believe. Since there are a couple different religions in this town, it can cause some major conflict.

Role was another thing that was shown in this episode of kid nation. This was sown when the upper class took control of the whole religion thing. You could tell that they were supposed to be in charge of everyone. They proved to be mature when they took the lead and decided to have a religious session. Even though no one showed up, it was still important that they took the lead.

When the council let the kids decide whether they wanted the holy books or the mini golf course, this was an example if obligation. The council could have just decided themselves, but they didn't. They made the decision of letting the kids vote so they could still feel like they were a community. This was a very appreciated obligation. This decision brought the kids and the council closer together.
