Poorest President Blog Post

The point the president brings out in my opinion is very accurate and i do agree with it. He said that, "Poor people are those who only work to try to keep en expensive lifestyle, and always want more." I agree with this statement because if you are only working to provide wanted things for your family you are poor. Working shouldn't be about how much money you have to spend it should be about how much money you have to provide for your family. So by the president donating 90% of his salary to charity, he is showing that life isn't only about money it's about using your money for a good cause.

Free blog post

Over the weekend I had a lot of fun. On Saturday I was able to hang out with Alyssa and Katie. We went to the zoo. We saw many different animals and had a really good time. At one point in our trip Katie stepped on a ketchup packet and it exploded. It got all over  my leg and shoe. It was pretty funny to be honest. After the zoo we took lots of car selfies. On Sunday, I went fishing. My whole family went to West City park. Unfortunately we didn't catch anything, but I did see a snake as it gracefully swam off the bank and into the water. Since there was little activity, I decided that I would try and tan. I think I was more burnt than tan, but oh well. Anyways, that was my weekend. I hope you had a good weekend too!

Kid Nation 3

In this episode of Kid Nation imitation stage was shown because Greg was using curse words. He was most likely imitating the behavior of his parents or other family members. This is not a positive example of imitation stage especially since there are little kids there. Some of the little kids come from strict homes and their parents don't appreciate those bad behaviors.

Looking-glass self is shown in this episode of Kid Nation as well. It is shown in this episode because Greg thinks that everyone treats him like dirt and that no one has any respect for him. He thinks that since others treat him badly that he has to be mean. He needs to realize that just because he doesn't get everything he wants he doesn't have to mouth off to the council or anyone else. If he was nicer and dealt with things maturely everyone would have more respect for him.

Total institution i thought was also shown in this episode. Total institution is shown because the whole town is cut off from any other civilization and that can be hard. The kids are put under the supervision of the City Council. The City Council is also partially under the control of the book that was left for them to follow. None of the kids are allowed to talk to any of their friends or family unless they win the gold star. Even then, though, they have to have permission.

Kid Nation

Society is shown in this Kid Nation episode because even though everyone wants to survive and eat some of the children who don't want to eat meat are against killing the chickens. A majority of the kids on the other hand want to kill the chickens. This is was a problem because the kids who didn't want to kill the chickens had to kill them anyways. In the end though the chickens were killed and the kids had to get through it.

Drives are shown in this episode of Kid Nation because when it comes down to eating it takes a lot of food to feed everyone. To help feed people, the council wanted to kill some of their chickens. This would have been a great source of protein for all of the kids. This shows a drive to keep the kids healthy and eating. Without this drive the kids wouldn't have the proper nutrition.

Formal Sanctions is shown in this episode of Kid Nation because if the kids were to have finished the show-down in an hour they would have been given the chance to go on the heated water slide and more water pumps. This is an example of formal sanction also because the kids don't have to receive anything. They could have just done the showdown and went back to the city. Instead, they were given the chance to receive a reward. To me it was a good choice to give them a goal to work towards.

Technology Free Post

In this blog post I will write about drama. Drama is a serious thing. I have had a lot of drama in my life. It isn't a fun situation. Some drama situations are more serious than others, but all drama in my opinion is stupid. No one should have to cope with any drama or they should avoid it as much as they can. Drama can cause you to lose some of your best friends. It can cause stress and it is just irrelevant. If you do become ensnared in drama you should always try to work out the situation and try not to make the problem even worse. Making the problem worse can cause others to become entangled in your drama. So, in conclusion you shouldn't get involved in drama.

I Trying To Be A Leader

Power is shown in the episode I'm Trying To Be A Leader. Power is shown in this episode because the kids are being governed by other kids. There are four kids that make up the City Council. The City Council is in charge of everything and everyone.  This is a hard task especially since they are only kids.

Class conflict is shown in the episode I'm Trying To Be A Leader. Class conflict is shown in this episode because the kids are coming into conflict with the City Council. The City Council is having a hard time keeping themselves and everyone else organized. In the end, someone will step up and take control. There will still be class conflict because the stress will be very large.

Symbols are shown in the episode I'm Trying To Be A Leader. Symbols are shown in this episode because there are four different districts. Each district is represented by a different color. The colors that represent each group are red, blue, green, and yellow. Each group is also assigned a different job. There is the upper class, the merchants, the cooks, and the laborers. This is a symbol for government.

Mrs. Debolt's Friendly Letter

                                                                                                                                    1717 West Main St.
                                                                                                                                     Festus, MO 63028
                                                                                                                                     April 1, 2014
Dear Mrs. Debolt,

My favorite movie is Divergent. This is my favorite movie because there was lots of action and suspense but just enough romance to balance out. The books that inspired this movie were even better than the movie, in my opinion. If you haven't read the books or seen the movie i suggest you do. I also suggest though that you see the movie first because the books are way more in-depth. In my spare time i like to read and listen to music. I am currently reading the book The Fault In Our Stars. I also like to go outdoors in my free time. Fishing and hunting are my favorite activities.

The coolest thing about me is that I play the clarinet. Even though that really isn't that cool, I love being able to play new songs unheard to many people. The clarinet is a pretty tricky instrument to play but since i have quite a bit of free time I have learned to play quite well. Ever since i started band in sixth grade, I have always wanted to learn how to play other instruments. The flute, saxophone, and piano are three instruments that i would love to learn how to play. I just love the sound of all three instruments, including my own, and the challenges the produce.

I am very inexperienced with computers. I have never been very good with computers because, to be honest, it confuses me. I do however know most of the basics. I can type essays and complete projects, and can get around pretty easily but there is still so much more I could learn. In this class, I would personally like to learn more about the more advanced settings of the computer. Being able to show others what i have learned in this class would be an achievement for me.

                                                                                                                                    Your friend,
                                                                                                                                     Kaia Atkisson

Violent Video Games

In my opinion, video games do make kids more violent because the bad habits from the video games are still impressed in the children's minds. They may not know that they are being violent because it is just natural behavior to them. On the other hand, children could also believe that since they allow violence in the video games it must not be bad to be violent in real life. So, children may think that it is okay to get into fights and to harass others when really it isn't. This behavior isn't acceptable. This is why i believe that video games do make kids more violent.
